Are Saatva mattresses healthy? ›

We do not use any harmful chemicals or sprays in our mattresses. At Saatva, we are proud to offer a collection of healthy non-toxic products.

When some cheap mattresses use fiberglass as a flame retardant, Saatva uses a natural thistle flame barrier. And the support coils are made from recycled steel. While these materials are natural and fall into the eco-friendly bed category, the Saatva Classic is not a fully organic mattress.

All of the main components for Saatva mattresses are sourced and handcrafted in the U.S. Every Saatva mattress is made to order and arrives "factory fresh.

CertiPUR-US® compliant foams are free of phthalates, formaldehyde, and mercury, lead, or other heavy metals. They're also tested to verify low VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions, so your mattress won't off-gas in your home.

Those VOCs can carry unpleasant chemical smells, respiratory irritants, and other health risks. Saatva mattress foams will never off-gas in your home.

The company was founded in 2010 by furniture industry veteran Ron Rudzin and entrepreneur Ricky Joshi, who chose to base the company's name on the Sanskrit word sattva which means "goodness" or "purity." Rather than open a brick and mortar store, the two opted to sell their mattresses exclusively online.

Main Differences. The Sleep Number is significantly more expensive than the Saatva Solaire. The Sleep Number has 20 firmness settings, while the Solaire has 50. The Sleep Number is a smart bed, and will give you a SleepIQ® score and recommendations for how to improve your sleep.

What does the name Saatva mean? ›

In Hindu philosophy, sattva represents purity, wholesomeness, and virtue. It is one of three gunas, or attributes, that all human beings possess. “Everybody has sattva in them. It's a human quality,” Pressley explains.

The comfort layer of the Saatva memory foam hybrid includes a 1.0″ quilted cover with gel-infused memory foam and a convoluted 1.5″ memory foam layer. Both of these layers combine for a total 2.5″ comfort layer designed with pressure relief, cooling, and comfort in mind.
